So, what is this game about?

People in the Bible lived in ancient cities, desert caves, and royal courts. But what would they do in a coffee shop? Who would they be on social media? In a group chat?

Saints & Scenarios takes the people from history's most extraordinary book and drops them into the modern world. Through several scenarios and your handful of saints, you get to debate why your pick is the best fit.

Who would accidentally go viral? Who would be an Ivy League commencement speaker?

Pick your biblical figure, make your case to the table, and convince the Arbiter that your saint is the right one.

Oh — and watch out for the Advocate Card! You'll know it when you see it.

Age 10+

3–8 players. No theology degree required.

Who came up with this and why?

Hi, I’m Jess: public health professor, storyteller, Bible nerd, and professional over-thinker. I’m also the founder of The Parable Lab.

Saints & Scenarios (like several things in my life) started with a joke in my head. Something like, “I think Samson would have some unhinged thoughts on dating... but someone else would probably say he’s the last person you’d go to for relationship advice.”

Then I started wondering: who would my friends say gives the best relationship advice? Leah? Joseph? Ruth? And, more importantly, why?

Over the next two years, that thought experiment became a bigger question: what happens if we take the people we know from Scripture and drop them into the awkward moments, hot takes, and everyday dilemmas of modern life?

Maybe we’d start seeing them as regular, relatable people. Flawed, messy, complicated, and still deeply desired by God. And if God was willing to meet them exactly where they were, maybe He’s willing to meet us there too: in the spaces and people we are still becoming.

That’s how this game came to be. It brings together my love of Scripture, storytelling, teaching, and a really good conversation, and it’s one way The Parable Lab helps today’s reader connect with the Bible.

So yes, this game was made by a random nerd.

But the unhinged cases? The time in community? The laughter and core memories? Those are yours to create.
